Gyanendra is a Partner and Leader with the Indirect Tax practice at BDO India for the Northern and Western regions and is based in Pune. With over 30 years of experience, he specialises in Indirect Tax and Regulatory matters, including Foreign Trade Policy, SEZs, Customs, GST, pre-GST laws at both the Central and State levels, and State and Central incentive schemes.
Prior to joining BDO India, Gyanendra spent 23 years with multiple large accounting firms and four years in the oil and gas industry. His professional experience includes conducting extensive indirect tax reviews for clients in the automotive and auto-components sector, covering areas such as customs classification and incentive recognition.
He has led the notification process for private-sector SEZs across manufacturing, IT, ITeS, and hardware sectors, overseeing SEZ unit approvals, setup, and compliance advisory. Gyanendra also spearheaded a large-scale tax transformation project involving SAP re-implementation for one of India's largest oil and gas conglomerates.
His experience further includes GST implementation and advisory for a leading FMCG company in India, as well as post-GST tax transformation for a major player in the steel industry. Additionally, he managed a customs transformation project for the Indian subsidiary of a Global Fortune 500 company.
Gyanendra has a strong track record of working with government authorities on State and Central incentive schemes, including facilitating four Mega Project MOUs in Maharashtra and managing approvals and disbursements under the Modified Special Incentives Package Scheme, among other initiatives.
