Amit Kumar Agarwal

Amit is a partner and practice leader for accounting advisory and actuarial services in the firm. He operates out of the Hyderabad Office and brings over 20 years of experience in assurance and accounting advisory engagements.

Prior to joining BDO India, he worked with large accounting firms and has extensive experience advising clients on IPO roadmaps, including IPO preparedness, project management support to enable management decisions, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and preparation of restated financial statements

Amit has successfully led large accounting advisory projects across diverse industries, involving reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)

He brings deep experience in financial reporting for subsidiaries of global multinational corporations, including preparation of financial statements aligned to IFRS/US GAAP frameworks and compliance reporting under local GAAP

He specialises in addressing complex accounting matters such as hedge accounting, debt vs. equity classification, derecognition of financial instruments, revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, share-based payments, and impairment of financial assets

His expertise spans Standards on Auditing (Indian & International), Quality Standards, Audit Methodology, Accounting Standards (International – IFRS, US GAAP; Indian – Ind AS & IGAAP), Corporate Law, and other regulatory frameworks
