India Union Budget 2025 Key Updates - Infrastructure & Logistics
The Union Budget 2025 has struck the right notes for India Inc., with a slew of measures aimed at boosting consumption and encouraging private sector capital expenditure. The government's continued focus on 'Make in India' is expected to increase domestic production, reduce imports, and create jobs, contributing to long-term growth. Additionally, the proposed reforms for greater ease of doing business in India will help facilitate more international and domestic investment.
The government has made clear its intentions to support the Infrastructure and Logistics sector, a critical segment of the economy, through numerous initiatives. The infrastructure sector has received the highest allocation, totalling INR 11.2tn, with proposals to enhance the digital public infrastructure through 'Bharat Trade Net' for international trade, as a unified platform for trade documentation, and financing solutions, complementing it with the Unified Logistics Interface Platform. The allocations for rural infrastructure included INR 670.0bn towards National Jal Jeevan Mission and INR 190.0bn towards Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
